How we verify
This page exists so you can judge the numbers on this site rather than trust them. It is short on purpose.
Primary sources only
Every price, duration and departure point comes from the company that charges it, read on its own booking page. Resellers and ticket platforms are never used as a source, because their rates move independently of the operator and go stale without anyone noticing.
Each table carries the date it was read. If you are seeing this months later, treat the date as the expiry label it is.
Disagreements get printed, not resolved
When two official sources give different figures for the same thing, both go into the table with their dates. Quietly choosing the one that reads better is how a wrong number gets copied from guide to guide until everyone repeats it.
What we refuse to publish
- Queue and wait times we have not measured. Every guide has them and almost none say where they came from. You will not find them here until someone has stood in the queue with a clock.
- Tours we have not taken, presented as if we had. Where a comparison rests on published terms rather than on having been there, the page says so in the author box.
- A "best" with nothing behind it. Recommendations are made for a stated kind of visitor and with the reason attached, or they are not made.
- Prices we have estimated. If a booking fee has not been seen on a checkout screen, its size is not guessed at.
Checking a page after it is published
Pages are checked in a real browser after publishing, not just in the code, because some failures only show up in a screenshot. A caption can describe a photograph that is not there. A table can overflow inside its own container while the page reports no horizontal scroll. Both have happened on sites we have built, which is why the check is visual and not only structural.
Corrections
When a published figure turns out to be wrong, it is corrected and the author box says what it used to say and why it was wrong. Corrections are not silent edits. If you have found one, tell us.
Photographs
Photographs are either our own, taken on a date we state, or they come from Wikimedia Commons under a free licence with the author and licence printed beside the image. Images are downloaded and served from this site; nothing is hotlinked from anyone else's server. A page that uses someone else's photograph says so in its author box rather than letting you assume otherwise.
